I think the difference between Alex and Elliot here has more to do with ease of representation - Alex sticking to gridball would require some rework in his schedules more than likely (and possibly introducing another new area?).During Spring, Alex exits his home at 8am unless it is raining. It feels like a completed arc to me, whereas Leah and Maru both give me a greater feeling of dragging them down/holding them back from their potential. If you have kids too, he'll start looking forward to training up one of them and seeing them become a star in his stead, which I think is a nice touch alongside his current 14-heart event. This difference occurs even if you haven't given him a bouquet, so it is not influenced by relationship status perse.
